IWONA LEMKE KONART Hippie Pilgrim 1979

These photographs of Polish hippies were taken during a pilgrimage to Czestochwa, a large town considered to be the most holy place in Poland.
The pilgrimage was part of an annual, centuries-old Christian tradition in Poland. In 1979, the hippies along with a much larger group of pilgrims,
converged on St. Mary's Day (August 15).
